President

  1. Elected position, serves three years as Vice President/President elect, then President, then Past President.
  2. Serves on the NELA Executive Board, which meets six times a year with a virtual attendance option, except for the orientation meeting in September which should be attended in person.
  3. Creates the agenda for and runs NETSL Board meetings.
  4. Oversees all aspects of the NETSL Annual Conference, including but not limited to, confirming speakers, creating an agenda, troubleshooting, introductions and welcome, assignments of conference day tasks, presentation of awards, and travel arrangements.
  5. Runs the Annual Business meeting and assists the Vice President in introducing programs at the NELA Annual Conference.
  6. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Vice President/President Elect

  1. Elected position, serves three years as Vice President/President elect, then President, then Past President.
  2. Serves on the NELA Conference Committee, which meets four times a year with a virtual attendance option except for the first meeting which should be attended in person, and coordinates programming and administrative tasks for the NETSL programming at the NELA Annual Conference.
  3. Assists the President as needed with appointments, board meetings, communicating with NELA, and recruitment.
  4. Runs NETSL Board meetings in the absence of the president.
  5. Creates the survey for the NETSL Annual Spring Conference and the ballot for NETSL elections.
  6. Coordinates the award giving process, including managing nominee documentation and ordering awards.
  7. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Past President

  1. Elected position, serves three years as Vice President/President elect, then President, then Past President.
  2. Manages sponsorships for annual conference – identifies, contacts, invoices and keeps track of sponsors
  3. Creates sponsor appreciation flyers & posters
  4. Serves as advisor as experienced Board member
  5. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Outreach Officer

  1. Elected position, serves one year. May run for one additional year and serve a maximum of two years consecutively.
  2. Send publicity about NETSL programs, activities, elections, and special events to online discussion groups, individuals, and social media outlets where appropriate. This includes publicizing the NETSL Spring Conference and NETSL programs held at the NELA Annual Conference and other correspondence as required.
  3. Welcome new members.
  4. Take minutes at meetings in the absence of the Secretary.
  5. Ensure that members are notified of the fall business meeting at least four weeks in advance.
  6. Administrate NETSL technologies and methods of communicating with membership, including eGroups, websites, and social media. Coordinate with the NELA Technology Manager and Administrative Assistant about needed changes to NETSL information on NELA websites.
  7. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Secretary

  1. Elected position, serves one year. May run for one additional year and serve a maximum of two years consecutively.
  2. Take minutes at business meetings.
  3. Distribute all official records and reports of NETSL to board members and forward them to the Archivist.
  4. Conduct internal correspondence to the Board and NELA as needed.
  5. Provides assistance and support to the Outreach Officer and the Archivist as needed.
  6. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Treasurer

  1. Elected position, serves one year. May run for one additional year and serve a maximum of two years consecutively.
  2. Responsible for keeping track of NETSL’s finances and submits a financial report of conference related expenses to the NETSL Board after the conference.
  3. Handles registration for the NETSL Annual Conference, both online and mail-in, troubleshooting any registration related problems, making name tags, and keeping track of breakout selections.
  4. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Archivist

  1. Appointed by the president, may serve as long as they and the president choose.
  2. File print and electronic copies of agenda & minutes for NETSL Board and NETSL Annual Business meetings.
  3. File other official NETSL documentation as appropriate – such as conference documents, award announcements, etc.
  4. Store 4+ boxes of print archives for NETSL while serving as archivist
  5. Answer questions from the NETSL board or others about the history of NETSL using the print and electronic archives
  6. Act as administrator of the NETSL Wiki and backing up the wiki monthly.
  7. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Local Arrangements Coordinator

  1. Appointed by the president, may serve as long as they and the president choose.
  2. Acts as the liaison between the NETSL Board and the event space for the NETSL Annual Conference, providing the board to relevant information and documents to choose rooms, equipment, food, and other such amenities.
  3. Troubleshoots any last minute problems with the event space managers on conference day.
  4. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.

Members-at-Large

  1. Appointed by the president for one year, may serve one additional year for a maximum of two years consecutively if they and the president choose.
  2. Suggest, volunteer, and take point on new projects and initiatives as they occur.
  3. Provide support to board members in order to evenly distribute workload.
  4. With the rest of the board, participates in planning the NETSL Spring Conference and the NETSL programs for the NELA Annual Conference and soliciting nominees for NETSL offices and for receipt of the NETSL Award for Excellence in Technical Services.
